PARAMETRIC DESIGN with Grasshopper

Description:

This course presents a combination of theoretical and applied aspects. The theoretical ones concern

the relationships between Information Technology and Architecture in this phase of history. From

the application point of view, students are guided through tutorials and use of laboratory

experimentations of different environments and understanding of different design modes with

computers. The objective of this course is to prepare future architects for parametric design.

Parametric modelling techniques developing rapidly in the last decade have become a milestone in

the development of architectural design tools. They facilitate the exploration of options for formal

solutions and the optimization of geometry in terms of structural, aesthetic and economic solutions.

Objectives:

- Learn the overall structure of parametric modeling systems.

- Acquire technical fluency in visual programming environments.

- Gain experience in the embedding of design knowledge into a parametric model.

- Employ appropriate parametric techniques to convey essential formal elements at each stage of the design process
